Contact Lens Policy

It is the policy of Deer Penick Eye Clinic that all contact lens patients should have an eye examination once a year. Contacts will not be dispensed for patients who have not had an examination in over a year. This is to ensure that your prescription is accurate and your eyes are healthy.

Problems with contact lenses or lens care products could result in serious injury to the eye. It is essential that you follow your eye care practitioner's directions for proper use and care of contact lenses. If you experience redness of the eye or other problems, remove your contacts and promptly call your doctor's office. It is recommended that you always have a pair of eyeglasses available with a recent prescription for times when you cannot wear your contact lenses.

Disposable contact lenses may be purchased in 3 month, 6 month, or one year supply. Please call in advance when possible and request your supply of lenses. This will allow time to access your chart to verify your prescription and to order your contacts.

All payments for contact lenses are due at the time they are dispensed. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Contact lenses may be mailed for an additional charge and payment in advance.

Contact Lens Evaluation Fee

All new contact lens patients will be charged a contact lens fitting fee which ranges form $200 to $275 based on the complexity of the fitting and the lens type as determined by the doctor. This fee includes instruction, starter solutions, and two months of contact lens follow up care. The fee will also include a supply of contacts. The type of contacts worn will determine the number of boxes which will be included in the fitting fee.

Please Note:

1) One half of the fitting gee is due at the time of service with the remaining balance due when the fit is complete.

2) New fit fees are non-refundable; but, if the fitting is unsuccessful, and fees paid may be used as credit toward glasses purchased at Deer Optical.

Contact Lens Fitting Fee

If you are already successfully wearing contact lenses and are in need of an updated prescription, there will be a contact evaluation fee of $40. This evaluation will verify prescription accuracy and lens fit. The evaluation fee is due at the time of service. Once paid, the $40 cost of the contact lens evaluation may be used towards the purchase of contacts at Deer Penick Eye Clinic within a year of the evaluation.

*Most insurance plans do not cover any contact lens related expenses. The fees described are separate and above any examination fees and co-payment amounts. All contact lens services are non-refundable.
